On February 27th, 2023 at the NAIT Culinary Arts Kitchens, Culinary Federation Young Chef Members from across the province gathered to compete to be the Alberta Representative Competitor in the Chef’s Hat Young Chef Culinary Challenge in Niagara Falls this coming June. Our competitors were Miranda McElwain, Crystal Higgins, Benjamin Sword, Mark Austin & Jose Emmanuel Paez.

Stephanie Stolk, the Competition Chair, coordinated the competition and NAIT graciously hosted.

Benjamin Sword placed first and Crystal Higgins placed second, and both Young Chefs will be representing on behalf on the Alberta chapters – Lethbridge, Calgary and Edmonton at the Nationals. Pictures below captured by Photographer David Marco.
