It has been an exciting period of transition for edmontonCHEFS.ca. We have positively re-branded our image and vision. Our website is a fantastic vehicle for sharing our journey and accomplishments. We have successfully integrated with the hospitality industry and are active in the community. Whether providing a nutritious lunch for appreciative elementary students at the Ben Calf Robe School, working with the Edmonton Food bank preparing Cook it Simple instructional videos, preparing lavish Collaborative Dinners with renown local chefs, or our popular Lobster fest, we celebrate professional camaraderie and success. Edmonton has great restaurants, a world class Culinary Arts program at NAIT, progressive High schools and most importantly a great community that supports the arts.
edmontonCHEFS.ca is extremely grateful to the Chefs, educators, suppliers, sponsors and aspiring novice culinarians who play a major part in our organization. Sincere thanks to the ongoing support from Civeo our major sponsor in the High School Culinary Challenge. Despite challenging economic times Civeo remains committed to investing in the future. The High School Culinary Challenge is a feather in the hat for our branch and continues to champion and encourage student success.
Our meetings and workshops have been well attended with topics including urban beekeeping, wild mushrooms, sustainable seafood and more. To sum it up, we are having fun! I have been very blessed to have an “A team” – our phenomenal board members, all who have significantly contributed to the success of our branch. Many thanks to our departing board members and welcome to the new.
In the upcoming year we will continue to evolve with many exciting culinary workshops. I would like to encourage all who have an interest in all things culinary to join us. Whether as a member, participant or volunteer there is something for everyone – all are welcome to our events. Keep an eye on our website for exciting new events to be posted. Until then enjoy life and good cooking!
Respectfully yours,
Stanley W.B. Townsend
