What makes Edmonton an outstanding city? We are unique in celebrating the arts whether it be music, theatre, visual arts, poetry or culinary. We are a city of celebration that likes to actively engage and have a good time. What about those Oilers, Eskimos and the best danged Rodeo anywhere?!
Another great thing about Edmonton is our rich multi cultural diversity. We are not a melting pot, instead choosing to acknowledge the identities and traditions of new Canadians; we love pho, perogies, tandoori, bannock burgers, churros, tiramisu – and of course Edmonton’s favorite street food Green Onion Cakes!
Last week edmontonCHEFS.ca celebrated International Chefs Day by partnering with Metro Continuing Education to serve over 600 new Canadians – students and their families. The menu featured Halal Butter Chicken, vegetarian dishes and a crowd favorite – curry perogies. This year’s theme was Art on a Plate – children’s activities included East Indian folk dancing, face painting, potato art and making banana dolphins. We feel we celebrated the true meaning of International Chefs Day by coming together with our local community in the name of food and friendship.

Welcome to Canada, what a beautiful country!
