Every year, Edmonton shows its stuff by putting up a roster of 10 fine chefs to take part in Gold Medal Plates, a fundraiser for the national Olympic and Paralympic teams. This year, there are more new faces than returning entrants, including Bryan Cruz from The Marc, Anthony Krause from The Salt Room (the restaurant in Mother’s Market), Steve Buzak from the Royal Glenora, Corey McGuire of Tzin,  Andrew Cowan (formerly of Hundred and Hart’s Table and now at Packrat Louie) and Joe Srahulek of the Chateau Lacombe. Veterans are Lindsay Porter of El Cortez Cantina, Paul Shufelt of Century Hospitality Group, Nathin Bye of Ampersand 27, and Jan Trittenbach of Solstice.

Gold Medal Plates will be held Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015. goldmedalplates.com
