Young Chef Members & guests piled into a couple vehicles and traveled out to Sherwood Park’s Barr Estate Winery for a private tour and tasting this past Saturday. Their host Rick Barr told the history of his wife Amy’s grandfather growing raspberries on the family homestead in the County of Strathcona many years ago. He started growing raspberries on the farm and years later his daughter Jeanette was able to nurture a few of those heritage plants into thousands that are used today when making their wine. The winery also has a number of first generation fruits that they are experimenting with to create enchanting wines. Everyone truly enjoyed themselves, thank you for having us Rick & Amy!
