Our warmest Seasons Greetings to you and yours!
Great to see so many at our Festive Dinner at the Shaw, nobody left hungry! Thanks to Chef Serge and his staff for an outstanding spread.
Last year was an exciting time as we reached out to our multicultural community with a number of interactive workshops. Our special event fundraisers have exceeded expectations with strong support from the community.
The Chefs Collaborative Dinners held at NAIT provide a great venue for Edmonton’s Top Chefs to ‘strut their stuff”. Our upcoming Wine Women & Song will champion our local Women Chefs, complimented with award winning music from our own Lisa Nicole Grace. The interactive Silent Auction will include participation from board members contributing their culinary expertise – (Yes we can cook!) as well as Chefs Table dinners at the Shaw Conference Centre and NAIT. Make sure to get your tickets before they’re gone!
This fall we celebrated International Chefs Day across our fair city with Healthy Heroes Events, where our members engaged with elementary and pre-school classes making healthy snacks and teaching children about the value of nutrition and staying active!
We continue to champion student success through the High School Culinary Challenge with close to 400 students competing to date Did you know that one our first Scholarship students, Peter Keith is now a Board Member? We are delighted to have younger Chefs like Peter and Steve Buzak on our board to add increased vitality and act as positive role models. Our junior members under the leadership of Stephanie Stolk have risen to the challenge and will represent us well at the National Conference in PEI in 2018 and are planning to attend the World Chefs Conference in Kuala Lampur.
The winds of change are creating new opportunity and transition at the National Board Level. Congratulations to Simon Smotkowicz elected National CCFCC President this past May, his organizational and efficiency skills are valued assets.
We have exciting plans for the new year including a Chocolate Workshop with Cacao Berry, a Social Media panel and workshop, a Wellness for Chefs seminar and farm tours. And get ready to go “hog wild” at our First Annual Pig Roast & Steak BBQ Dinner & Dance night in May. On behalf of the entire board I wish you health and happiness with your loved ones, friends and family – hope to see you soon!
