Food Service Coordinator

As a landmark cultural institution, the new RAM will be the largest museum in western Canada with more than 82,000 square feet of exhibition space.
Reporting to the Front of House Manager, the Food Services Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the operation of the Museum Cafe including online sales, catering, bar services, vending machines and temporary satellite food sales. Responsibility for the cafe includes the day-to-day management of the staff, volunteers and contractors that provide retail services. This position is responsible for the financial management of the cafe including projecting revenue and expenses, product sales, point of sale system and overseeing the daily cash handling. This position is responsible for the research, development and planning of the cafe menus including main cafe, catering, bar and special satellite sales. The Food Services Coordinator is responsible for all cafe spaces include main cafe, cafe patio (indoor and outdoor), short-order kitchen, main kitchen, vending machine area and catering support spaces. This position is responsible for planning, monitoring and maintain food safety standards in all areas according to the Alberta Health Services requirements, including staff training, awareness and inspections. Museum Cafe oversight also includes the management of the cafe inventory, product ordering, point-of-sale and inventory software, hardware and monthly inventory control.
The Food Services Coordinator is responsible for all cafe staff including scheduling, training and performance improvement. This position is also responsible to receive all customer feedback regarding all food services and resolve any problems to customer’s satisfaction in a timely manner; and manage any internal and external surveys. This position works closely with the Head of Marketing and Communications to identify problems and opportunities to improve service and communication with all museum visitors. An important function of this position is to work closely with the Security Chief to proactively plan and implement a safe environment for our visitors and secure the cafe from theft.

The ability to identify new and different ways of doing things is also essential to success in this role.
BUILD COLLABORATIVE ENVIRONMENT: You will be working in collaboration with many different stakeholders at different levels in and outside the organization. Building collaborative environments is key for this role as you will need to provide and gather critical information for the Executive Director of the Branch. You will also be responsible for providing guidance and leadership to the administrative support community within the Branch.
CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING: Candidates will be responsible for providing expertise and effective solutions to staff and other Departments on administrative issues. Considerable independent judgement will be required to guide the day to day work.
Salary: $2,054.37 – $2,538.45 bi-weekly (~$53, 619 – $66, 253 annually). Closing Date: June 26, 2017. Job ID #1043094
Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to their resume, include a cover letter that explains how they demonstrate at least two of the competencies outlined above. Post-Secondary diploma and five years of related experience in a busy food service environment in a supervisory capacity is required or a cooking certificate and 6 years of related experience. Experience in menu development, inventory management and extensive customer service experience would be preferred.
