The successful chef will be working with an experienced, enthusiastic culinary arts teacher to instruct grade 7-12 students in the culinary arts. The main part of your job will be instructing, maintaining and managing the student run cafeteria of a 400-student school. Other jobs include catering school and community events and coaching students for culinary competitions. The chef is also responsible for tracking and ordering groceries/supplies, maintaining equipment and costing for catering.
Vegreville Composite High School is located 1 hour east of Edmonton on Highway 16. The town of Vegreville is a hub for surrounding communities and has a population of 5,500. We are home to Walmart, No Frills and Coop grocery stores, Canadian Tire, Boston Pizza and Tim Hortons. Many commute from Edmonton to work in the community.

Working with youth, you will be an energetic, compassionate and creative individual who puts kids first. The successful candidate will be able to work along side the classroom teacher to deliver quality instruction in the culinary arts. You will be excited about creating new menu items with the students. You will understand that students are at varying levels of learning and be able to teach to their level. You will be patient and encouraging to students; allowing them to feel good about their current progress. You will take pride in your position as instructor and coach to our culinary competitors who are representing our school with excellence in their skills. You will be open to exploring the vast array of opportunities to expand our program into the community. You may even take advantage of the facilities to grow your own side job in catering or other culinary pursuits. In short, you will be passionate about cooking and bring that passion to the students and community.
